Oh, come on! Everybody knows that when someone says "Everything is gonna be okay" then something awful is bound to happen! Why do they keep saying that? I think that this sentence should be banned from common language for people's safety.Also, Blake, you're a creep. Seriously. And Katy, how the hell could you not have known?The last part was REALLY GOOD. And I totally share Katy's hate for cliffhangers.

She was interested in going out and finding her own.”Non avevo mai letto nulla di Maggie Stiefvater prima d'ora, ma dopo The Raven Boys sicuramente vedrò di rimediare. Mi piace molto il suo stile, e poi io adoro i libri scritti in terza persona che seguono le vicende di più personaggi contemporaneamente invece di focalizzarsi su uno solo; rende più facile affezionarsi a tutti loro e non solo al semplice protagonista, ed è sempre interessante vedere le situazioni analizzate da diversi punti di vista.Quello che mi ha particolarmente colpito di questo libro è stata la sua originalità: niente nuove creature sovrannaturali, ma semplicemente una storia basata sulla magia e su una misteriosa ricerca, che fa della caratterizzazione dei singoli personaggi il suo punto di forza. Nonostante i vari punti di vista, infatti, tutti si differenziano fra loro e hanno una propria voce; anche i personaggi secondari sono delineati benissimo e mi piacerebbe molto scoprire di più su di loro nei seguiti. Blue è una protagonista simpatica e coraggiosa, e trovo che dia il meglio di sè quando interagisce con la sua famiglia "allargata" (che ho assolutamente adorato). E' però Gansey colui che mi ha colpita di più, soprattutto perchè diverso dai soliti ragazzi ricchi stereotipati che si trovano nei libri: è bellissimo il modo in cui si prende cura delle persone che ama sempre e comunque, anche quando queste fanno di tutto per respingerlo e vanificare i suoi sforzi. In particolare parlo di Adam, che è il personaggio che mi ha convinta di meno: ho apprezzato il suo desiderio di trovare una propria identità senza aver bisogno di nessuno, ma a volte il suo atteggiamento nei confronti dei suoi amici risulta abbastanza fastidioso. Va bene che vieni da una situazione familiare difficile (anche se non è di certo il solo - penso a Ronan per esempio, continuamente preso di mira da tutti, spesso anche in modo ingiustificato), ma il suo giudicare sempre tutti solo in base a quanti soldi hanno nel portafoglio oltre che la sua costante autocommiserazione lo rendono abbastanza irritante. E se un amico ti offre aiuto quando ne hai bisogno, magari non vuol dire che prova pietà per te, ma solo che ti vuole bene, non credi Adam?Mi è piaciuto anche il corso insolito che ha preso la storia d'amore; dalle prime pagine mi sembrava di aver capito esattamente come sarebbe andata a finire, e invece si è scelto di non affrettare nulla e di porne solo le basi (decisione azzeccata a mio parere, ogni libro in cui non c'è insta-love guadagna immediatamente dei punti in più). Insomma, la romance in questo primo libro è molto attenuata, il che non è proprio un male.A parte qualche calo di ritmo qua e là, la storia scorre piuttosto bene; ci sono poi una serie di colpi di scena che non avevo proprio visto arrivare e che mi hanno lasciata davvero di stucco (ma forse qui sono solo io che sono particolarmente ottusa XD).Ve lo consiglio se state cercando qualcosa di diverso dal solito; io ne sono rimasta affascinata subito dalla prima riga e sono convinta che il meglio debba ancora arrivare!

***Attenzione agli spoiler***“Ora sei anche tu dall'altra parte del filo spinato, e noi qui onoriamo ogni giorno che riusciamo a conquistare.”Perfetto è un romanzo che proprio non può lasciarti indifferente; la premessa da cui parte è infatti decisamente disturbante e senza dubbio davvero originale. Come sarebbe il mondo se fosse popolato esclusivamente da donne? Tutto sommato, neanche così brutto. L'universo che si viene a creare, per quanto incredibile possa sembrare e pur con tutti i suoi problemi, effettivamente funziona; in seguito allo sterminio di tutti gli uomini a causa di una misteriosa sindrome, il genere femminile è stato comunque in grado di andare avanti indipendentemente in tutti i settori, compreso quello della riproduzione. Tutto ciò che riguarda gli uomini è stato così bandito per evitare di scatenare i brutti ricordi associati al Periodo Buio e alla Sindrome.Lo stile è molto scorrevole e serrato: c'è un buon equilibrio fra dialoghi e descrizioni che, dettagliate al punto giusto, non cadono nella prolissità, in modo da non creare attimi di noia o cali di ritmo. Si tratta proprio di un libro che si legge tutto d'un fiato. Ho apprezzato anche molto il fatto che la storia sia ambientata in parte in Francia e in parte in Italia; anche se si tratta di un paese ormai distrutto dalla guerra, è stato bello avere un cambiamento di panorama rispetto agli altri YA.Sinceramente avrei voluto che il romanzo fosse più lungo, perchè ho avuto l'impressione che alcuni passaggi e soprattutto certi personaggi secondari promettenti non siano stati molto approfonditi; parlo ad esempio di Eloise, che sembra poter riservare molte sorprese, ma che al momento è stata per lo più solo abbozzata. C'è anche da dire, però, che si tratta solo del primo libro di una trilogia, quindi penso che ci potrà essere un po' più di spazio per almeno alcuni di questi personaggi nei seguiti che verranno.I protagonisti del romanzo invece sono stati davvero ben delineati. Lilac è una ragazza che inizialmente appare abbastanza ingenua, soggetta alla società in cui vive e che non si pone troppe domande a riguardo, fedele fino all'ultimo alle regole; nel corso della storia si trasforma però in una donna forte e coraggiosa, disposta a combattere per le persone che ama e a contrastare coloro che sono al potere. Non nego però che il personaggio a cui mi sono più affezionata è stata Baguette, la sua migliore amica. Baguette mostra fin da subito una personalità ribelle e indipendente, da questo punto di vista completamente opposta rispetto a quella di Lilac, oltre che ad essere simpaticissima e una persona che tutti vorremmo avere al nostro fianco a sostenerci. L'amicizia che lega le due è molto profonda e toccante, e ho avuto l'impressione che, da parte di Baguette, potesse esserci anche qualcosa di più. Questa è solo una mia supposizione, ma se così fosse sarebbe una svolta davvero particolare e che non capita di vedere spesso.Ho adorato anche Michael e tutta la sua commovente avventura con la madre di Lilac, Irene, oltre che il piccolo Jonah, che è davvero dolcissimo. Devo invece ancora inquadrare bene Elia: la sua storia con Lilac mi è parsa un po' troppo affrettata, considerato che la vicenda si svolge in un arco di tempo molto breve. Inoltre non ho capito bene il suo comportamente all fine... diciamo che mi sembra che non rendi molto onore agli uomini, che già sono pochi XDPassando ad altro, Vega G è una cattiva davvero interessante. Le sue idee, che sembrano così folli, se analizzate a fondo appaiono quasi sensate e da un certo punto di vista persino comprensibili. Non le condivido affatto, ma il suo è di sicuro un pensiero che può prestarsi a diverse opinioni.Ve lo consiglierei? Sì. A parte il fatto che costa pochissimo (2.99 euro, versione Kindle), Perfetto è un ottimo romanzo d'esordio, pieno di spunti originali e che fa riflettere riguardo a questioni che normalmente non ci verrebbero mai in mente. Inoltre è stato scritto da un'autrice italiana, e a volte è cosa buona sostenere la patria! :)

Edit 28/02/13:So, synopsis and cover are out. I don't really hate this one, but compared to all the other great covers out there, it completely sucks. Anyway, Sydney is not showing her golden lily tattoo, so I guess this means that she's drifting away more and more from the Alchemists. I kinda hope she'll be sent to re-education, that'd be an interesting turn of events! :DAnd yes, the wait is still killing me.-----------------------------------------Edit 14/02/13:Expected publication: November 19th 2013 I don't think I'll be able to wait that long.And now the title makes much more sense, I love it even more!-----------------------------------------It has a title! And I really like it, The Fiery Heart is a pretty cool name.Also, "The Fiery Heart is going to be told from both Sydney and Adrian's points of view. That's right. If you've ever wanted to get inside the crazy world of Adrian Ivashkov's head, this is it. It'll still be in first person, but the POV will alternate chapters."Now I can't wait to see how this will turn out... but I think it's gonna be interesting being in Adrian's head!

***WARNING: SPOILER ALERT***First and foremost, I appreciate the fact that this series has finally found its own path and that it can now step out of Vampire Academy's shadow. Deity is fast-paced, engaging and full of plot twists.I LOVE Aiden more and more. He's so sweet and caring and supportive and why the hell guys like him don't exist in real life??.Anyway, I like Alex and Aiden's relationship, and I'm glad that she is so sure about her feelings and knows what she wants. I hope this means no more annoying triangle in the future (even if I can't see anything good coming for the two of them in the near future from that cliffhanger, but still).Also, I love that the Gods are now playing a bigger role in the story, because I absolutely adore mitology. I was totally clueless about Leon, so that was a really nice twist, which made me like him even more!Now, about Seth. Even if I've never been really fond of him, I don't agree with all the hate towards his character. Though what he did is not excusable, I think that, in the end, he's just a damaged guy searching for love and approval who fell for the lies of the first person that showed him a bit of (even if probably fake) affection. He saw in Lucian a paternal figure he needed to please and Lucian took advantage of that. I don't believe Seth is bad; he made a lot of stupid and wrong decisions, but he's not beyond redemption, or at least I hope so. I can now understand him better, and I just feel sorry for him.By the way, now I'm definitely ready for Apollyon. Gimme gimme gimme!

English review (più giù trovate quella in italiano)“Oh, Evie, you’re too much,” people said, and it wasn’t complimentary. Yes, she was too much. She felt like too much inside all the time. So why wasn’t she ever enough?It's been a long time since I read such a well written book like The Diviners. The prose is indeed without a doubt the strong point of this novel: incredibly evocative, it makes you feel like you're really walking through the streets of New York City during the Roaring Twenties. It's a slow and rather challenging reading because of Libba Bray's great attention for every detail; yet, this doesn't make the story boring or less flowing, but, on the contrary, it makes it even more exciting. The third person narration follows the points of view of many characters, all of them absolutely well characterized, which is not something that should be taken for granted: often, when there are so many characters, the risk is to make them to similar to each other, or, on the other end, to radicalize their personalities. In here instead, they are all described in a wonderful way:everyone has his or her distinctive traits, but these don't make them mere stereotypes. Even minor characters (Naughty John's victims), who have just one dedicated chapter each, are well represented, which makes it easy to feel sympathy for them. Evie is exactly the kind of heroine that I like: funny, a bit out of control and sometimes even selfish, but capable of sincere moments of kindness towards the people she loves. She's not the perfect girl who goes around bestowing morality lessons, nor the fake-humble girl who receives praises from everybody. She often commits mistakes, but that's what make her even more likeable.All the other as well are very interesting and full of skeletons in their closets, and I can't wait to see them come to light! It was nice to see how all the events that happened simultaneously came to intertwine. And I didn't expect this kind of a love twist, since the two main characters, Evie and Memphis, who I thought would have ended up together, had very little to do with each other.The plot itself was very engaging, and I love this kinds of paranormal and mystery books. Naughty John is a very disturbing villain and the whole situation was very macabre and horrifying.There are still many mysteries left unsolved and I can't wait to see how things will evolve for all the characters... the sequel is still too far away!Don't let the length of the novel demoralize you; I wouldn't recommend you to read it if you're looking for something lighthearted or if you're particularly busy, but if you have some time then give The Diviners a chance, because it really deserves it. Especially because it's a very unique novel among the others Young Adults, starting from the amazing setting. La prosa è infatti senz'ombra di dubbio il punto di forza di questo romanzo: incredibilmente evocativa, si ha davvero la sensazione di camminare per le strade di quella New York degli anni venti. Si tratta di una lettura lenta e anche abbastanza impegnativa a causa della grande attenzione di Libba Bray per ogni particolare; eppure tutto ciò non rende affatto la storia noiosa o meno scorrevole, ma anzi la fa diventare ancora più emozionante.La narrazione in terza persona segue i punti di vista di un gran numero di personaggi, tutti caratterizzati benissimo fra l'altro, il che non è una cosa tanto scontata; spesso, quando si ha a che fare con così tanti personaggi, si rischia o di renderli troppo simili fra loro, o al contrario di estremizzarne le personalità. Non si tratta della ragazza perfetta che va in giro a dispensare lezioni di moralità o della finta-umile messa lì tanto per ricevere elogi da parte di tutti. Spesso commette degli errori, ma è questo che la rende ancora più apprezzabile.Anche tutti gli altri, chi più, chi meno, sono molto interessanti e soprattutto pieni di scheletri nell'armadio che non vedo l'ora di veder venire fuori! E' stato bello vedere come le varie vicende che scorrevano in parallelo siano arrivate ad intrecciarsi fra loro. In particolare non mi aspettavo quella sorta di twist amoroso, dato che i due personaggi principali, Evie e Memphis, che da come erano stati presentati all'inizio pensavo sarebbero finiti inevitabilmente insieme, hanno avuto invece poco a che fare l'uno con l'altra.La storia in sé poi l'ho trovata molto avvincente, anche perché io amo questo genere di gialli paranormali. John il Malvagio è davvero un cattivo molto inquietante e tutta la vicenda è stata molto macabra e raccapricciante.Ci sono ancora tantissimi misteri lasciati irrisolti e sono curiosissima di vedere come si evolveranno le cose per i nostri protagonisti... il seguito è decisamente ancora troppo lontano!Non fatevi demoralizzare dalla lunghezza del romanzo; non vi consiglierei di leggerlo se state cercando qualcosa di leggero o se siete particolarmente impegnati, ma se avete un po' di tempo date a The Diviners una possibilità perché la merita davvero. Soprattutto perché si tratta di qualcosa di piuttosto originale nel panorama degli Young Adult, a partire dalla bellissima ambientazione. Non penso che ne rimarrete delusi!

“I don't trust beautiful people.”When I first read the blurb of The Assassin's Curse I was super excited. Pirates! Assassins! Curses! What could go wrong?Unfortunately though, in the end it didn't really live up to its hype. The first half of the book was extremely boring and uneventful, and the story started to get interesting just in the second half. At that point I began to really enjoy it, but that wasn't enough to make me give it more than 3 stars. Which is a pity, because it had so much potential and a great premise.The best part of The Assassin's Curse was Ananna. First of all, I love the fact that she is a pirate, that's so exciting! There aren't enough pirates in YA. But above all, she is a great heroine: brave, funny and strong, she can take care of herself and she doesn't have to be saved all the time by other people. On the contrary, she's the one doing the saving and helping Naji quite a lot, and that's awesome. She surely isn't a damsel in distress!I'm not sure about Naji, though. I generally liked his character and I can't wait to know more about him, but he is too lost in self-pity. Ok, you had a rough life, but now it's time to move on and stop complaining. I hope he'll soon open his eyes and see how amazing Ananna truly is.The world created by Clarke is really intriguing (in case you didn't notice: I love pirates), but I would have liked to know more about it.Hopefully the problems I had with this book (slow pace, not much plot) will be solved in the next installment, which I'll definitely read because it looks very promising. Overall, I don't feel like advising you against reading it, because maybe you'll find it more engaging than I did; but I think there are better books out there waiting for you.

“Kami'd always retold her fairy tales to make the fair maidens braver and more self-sufficient, but she had never had any real objection to the handsome prince.” I don't know what went wrong with this book. I feel like Unspoken could have been awesome, but in the end it just settled for OK.Let's be clear: it is a good book. It's interesting and original, with very likeable characters; I loved its humour and the witty dialogues, as well as the gothic atmosphere.Kami is a great heroine, absolutely hilarious and quite clever and very easy to like, even if she falls in the plain-girl-surrounded-by-beautiful-friends-that-every-guy-loves-anyway cliché. I mean, I get it. Looks are not everything and you can be loved and all even if you're not that good-looking. I GET it. So please, dear authors, stop stressing that in every single book you write, because it's getting very annoying. The other characters were nice as well, but unfortunately I couldn't really connect with any of them.Another thing I had problems with was the writing style: so fast that sometimes I didn't even realize what was going on or how the characters had ended up in a certain place, so I had to go back and read it again. It just felt... awkward and it failed to get me interested in what was happening to Kami & Co.However, overall, Unspoken was an enjoyable and fun read, and I'm sure many people will like it better than I did. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I felt like there was a lot of wasted potential, which is a pity. Still, I have faith in its sequel, which I will surely read because that cliffhanger sounds really promising, and I can't wait to know how things will evolve.

I hate that he has been on his own for so long painting graffiti moons in the dark keeping quiet about who he really is.” Credo di avere appena trovato il mio libro preferito.Mi piacerebbe poter scrivere qualcosa che renda giustizia alla bellezza di Graffiti Moon, ma non mi vengono in mente parole adeguate in grado di esprimere tutto quello che ho provato leggendo questo romanzo. E' semplicemente perfetto, breve ma toccante. Una storia semplice ma indimenticabile, piena di personaggi che ti rimangono dentro.Consiglio davvero a tutti di leggerlo, non penso che ve ne pentirete.

Even if far from being flawless, it's definetely entertaining and engaging; I haven’t had this much fun reading a book in ages. The writing wasn't always perfect, but it was fluent and not boring at all.Seriously, this book has everything: action, romance, mystery, magic, likeable characters, an interesting plot and a fascinating world.Celaena is such a breath of fresh air; I've had enough of humble main characters that think they're ugly and ordinary when they're secretely the most special of all people. Celaena is good-looking, smart and skilled, and she knows it; she's arrogant and she shoves her achievements in everybody's faces. Yes, she's kinda of a Mary Sue, but let's face it: she's a badass and generally awesome. I guess you'll end up either loving her or hating her. And she's not even the only girl who can kick ass: Nehemia and Elena had their moments of badassness as well. Yay for girls power!As for the love triangle: I know this is going to sound shocking, but I didn't hate it. Maybe it's because Dorian and Chaol are both interesting characters (even though right now I think I'm leaning more toward Dorian), or maybe because Calaena doesn't really seem into either of them yet, so there isn't too much love drama, but it was definitely bearable. I'm worried, though, that it'll become a focal point in the sequels; please Sarah, have mercy on our souls, I'm begging you.I don't want to spoil the plot, but it was awesome. The culprit was a tad predictable, yes, but it didn't bother me much; there were so many other things going on besides the central mystery and I found myself not being able to tear my eyes from the pages.Overall, Throne of Glass is a great debut. It's fresh and original and I won't give it 5 stars only because I'm sure this series has the potential to do even better. I can't wait to put my hands on the sequels!So yeah, I'd totally recommend it, espacially to all fantasy-lovers; only, I suggest you to read the novellas first, so you'll get an insight into the main character and the world Sarah J. Non vedo l'ora di poter mettere le mani sui seguiti!Quindi sì, ve lo consiglio assolutamente, specialmente a tutti gli amanti del fantasy (ma non solo); solo, vi suggerisco di leggere prima le novelle, in modo che possiate capire meglio la protagonista e il bellissimo mondo che Sarah J. It's not a secret I wasn't Obsidian's biggest fan, but I'm glad to say a lot of issues I had with it were generally solved in this second installment. First of all, I love this version of Daemon: he's nice and thoughtful, and still sarcastic and funny without being a total asshole, and I found myself swooning over what he said more than once.Katy was awesome as well: she is no longer a damsel in distress and she finally started to kick some ass, and I really liked the fact that she wanted to be able to protect herself and the ones she loves.And how amazing was all the second part of this book? Seriously, so many things going on that I don't even know what to say. Except that, this time, I'm definitely impressed.I don't think Onyx was perfect (there were still a few things that bugged me, especially in the first half), but now I can't wait to know how everything will evolve and I'm really excited about the sequels.So yeah, I did the right thing picking this one up.

2.5Stavo per dare a questo libro 3 stelline. Ma poi Wendy, innamorata di A, decide di sposare B, poi si bacia un po' con C e dopo con A, ma poi torna da B. Capisco chi considera Torn migliore di Switched e, da un certo punto di vista, questo è vero. Ma il mio preblema rimane sempre lo stesso: Wendy La Piattola.Seriamente, Wendy è profonda quanto una pozzenghera: l'unico criterio secondo cui si innamora di qualcuno è quanto tale tipo è figo. Non mi pare che abbia mai dato delle vere giustificazioni ai suoi vari amori, perchè ogni volta che pensa a Finn lo fa solo per ricordare a tutti quanto è bello. A un certo punto arriva pure a dire che Duncan non potrebbe mai essere il suo tipo perchè è solo carino. Ecco il riassunto di ciò che fa Wendy nel corso della storia: si lagna, rompe le palle, si lagna, si innamora dei primi tizi che passano, si lagna.Gli altri personaggi cercano di farmela piacere in tutti i modi, decantandone le lodi e dicendo quanto sia potente, intelligente, bella, brava, gentile, compassionevole, altruista, simpatica eccetera (Spoiler Alert: Non lo è); in effetti un gran numero di questi personaggi ha perso le mie simpatie proprio correndo dietro alla Piattola. Tremo al pensiero che possa diventare regina D:In compenso, Wendy ha tirato fuori le mie più raffinate abilità artistiche:Potrei parlarvi anche di altre cose, tipo la trama di questo libro (intrighi politici, piccoli problemi di cuore, risvolti familiari stile Beautiful), ma non lo farò. No. Perchè il mio odio per Wendy offusca tutti gli altri miei pensieri.

Sarò sincera, questo libro mi ha fatta sbellicare dalle risate, ma non sono sicura che questo fosse sempre l'intento dell'autrice. Si è trattato per lo più di un ridere per non piangere di fronte alle assurdità scritte in certe pagine.Partiamo da Wendy, che è probabilmente una delle peggiori protagoniste di cui mi è mai capitato di leggere: è lagnosa, stupida per la maggior parte del tempo e pure egoista. Il suo continuo uso della persuasione su chiunque non faccia tutto quello che vuole lei è davvero da bimbetta viziata, e la sua scusa che "non può fare altrimenti" lo è ancora di più -.-"Ma poi daii, c'è un tipo a scuola che si comporta da stalker, la prima volta che ti parla lo fa per insultarti, praticamente irrompe in casa tua e tu cosa fai? Ovviamenti ti accorgi di quanto è figo e ti innamori subito di lui andando a sbandierare in giro il tuo amore eterno. Non avreste fatto la stessa cosa anche voi?Senza contare che Wendy accetta qualunque cosa le venga detta nel giro di due secondi, e pensa alla sua famiglia solo quando qualcuno glielo ricorda o solo se tutto il resto è andato a quel paese e quindi ha bisogno di qualcuno che la aiuti.Tutta la storia dei Troll poi è piuttosto ridicola. L'idea in sè poteva anche essere originale, se non fosse che questi Troll (ops, volevo dire Trylle) sono come tutte le altre creature soprannaturali che popolano gli Urban Fantasy: bellissimi, intelligentissimi, potentissimi e levissimi. E allora perchè chiamarli Troll, o vampiri, o mutaforma o pinguini mannari? Tanto sono sempre la stessa cosa ripetuta all'infinito.Poi, seriamente: va bene che ti piacciono i soldi, ma proprio furbo non devi essere se scambi un maschio con una femmina. Va bene la persuasione e tutto, ma non potevi trovare una famiglia ricca che aspettasse una femmina? Era davvero così difficile?? Ci credo che Kim ha cercato di fare fuori Wendy, era l'unica con un po' di cervello da quelle parti.Pure lo stile fa abbastanza acqua da tutte le parti: certi punti sono descritti in modo talmente veloce che a volte dovevo rileggere di nuovo per capire cos'era successo. E quella scena finale? Due righe e boh, sono arrivati a casa. Mah. Nella seconda metà è migliorato, sì, ma non abbastanza da farmi dimenticare quello che avevo letto in precedenza XDE insomma, ci sarebbero molte altre cose da dire, ma non la finirei più, quindi è meglio se chiudo qui XD
